Warning. Proceed Cautiously.
November 10, 2010
Before you proceed, please be warned. From the beginning, my blogging business partner and I have tried to provide information, experiences and opinions related to marketing. This is not that! This blog is an unadulterated rant. The closest this blog will come to marketing is to make a promise to never, ever use negative political tactics to market. I solemnly promise!
It’s been almost a week since election day. Nothing, absolutely nothing has changed. The election news is still the lead story morning, noon and evening. The heated rhetoric from both left and right is overwhelming, not to mention nauseating. If I hear “the people have spoken” one more time, and if I could lift it, the TV may get launched out the front door.
Although I had a vote, it didn’t count for anything. My voice has not been heard. Had my voice been heard, those with the power to make change would—well… change! Change anything or something. Unemployment, encourage small business development, home foreclosures, recession, significant job creation, blah, blah, blah! Nothing changes. Tax the rich, eliminate social programs, the perils of healthcare reform, cut the budget, pork barrel spending, keep funding the war, blah, blah, blah! Nothing changes.
I am sick beyond belief at being patronized and pandered to by politicians and their parrots like I have an IQ of the turkey that drowned in a rainstorm from looking to the sky! I am sick of an entire political system that has been reduced to talking to me in sound bytes that are half-truths or outright lies.
As an example, in this state, we just elected a very conservative secretary of state that conducted a campaign based solely on fear mongering and heated rhetoric. He was voted into office on the premise the state is rife with fraudulent voting. He ratcheted up the fearful rhetoric each week. At best, the actual fact based records indicate only seven cases of ALLEGED voter fraud in five years. Yet, the majority evidently saw this as a major problem. Seriously!
Here’s where I am today. You can wrap yourself in a donkey or an elephant Fathead®, I don’t care. For all I care, you can sleep with it. But, if you have been voted into office, for God’s sake FIX SOMETHING! John Boehner, I am not moved by your tearful moment in front of millions of your minions proclaiming how hard you worked to achieve your dream. Dude… we freakin’ all work hard! We all would like to achieve our dreams if you folks, donkeys and elephants homesteading in D.C., will FIX SOMETHING before we all fade into oblivion! And, Ms. Pelosi… I realize the Speaker takes on the persona of a mafia hitman, but you have failed to realize there is a point of diminishing return. As a result we’ve got NOTHING from you or your party but a humongous government, out of sight deficit and more war. Oh yes, and the most anti-business administration in my lifetime.
If my vote counts, you won’t be concerned with my religious affiliation or my spiritual connection with your God. I have one of my own, thank you very much. If you are doing your job in Washington, you’ll be too busy to worry about my morals. My mother worried enough for all of us and as a result, I’ll bet my track record is better than yours! If my vote counts, you will accept the fact my civil rights trump your religious pontifications. In fact, if my vote counts, you should be so busy fixing all the problems created by yours and the previous pathetic administration, anyone’s significant other should be the least of your concerns.
As sick as I am of incredibly nasty 24/7 politics mired in a dysfunctional system, I am even more appalled at the public’s inability or unwillingness to find the truth. Not the sound bytes heard on Rachel, Rush, Glenn, Keith or any of the other entertainers disguised as journalists or politicians, but the truth. If the best we can do as a citizenry is wrap ourselves in mindless rhetoric, we’re probably getting what we deserve.
There. I feel better already.

Just had to come back and read this again. I needed/wanted to laugh. MO passed Prop B, HSUS had an ad on TV the next morning soliciting for donations to continue their efforts, GIPSA proposed rule comment period ends Monday and I can’t wait to share my cattle harvest dollars in the toilet bowl of life. People are not paying attention. It’s that simple. Food, who needs food. Vote on a bill, huh, what bill. The bill says what? Geez.
